What to do when you have chosen a partner university where the exchange period starts before or during the first exam period at Thomas More?

How do you proceed?

You inform the international coordinator(ICO) about the start of the semester at the chosen partner. Complete the excel file(can be found on the learning platform), choose one of the options of your preference below. Send the excel file to your ICO at the latest on December 6th before 12h.

Written and oral exam:

As the student cannot be present during the entire first exam period, due to an earlier start at the partner university, he/she should choose between the two following options:

Option 1: these exams will be scheduled in June, during the second exam period. This is the first exam chance.

Option 2: the student consciously choose to skip his 1st exam attempt in June and will do the exam(s) during the third exam period, August/September. Be aware that this is the second exam attempt.

Permanent evaluation

Needs to be agreed with the teacher

What to do when you combine your study exchange with TM courses from the first phase? This means that you cannot be present during the classes due to your exchange in the same term.

You select the TM course(s) in your ISP You check regularly the course on the learning platform In case of permanent evaluation, try to find an online solution. If not the teacher has the right to give a zero score for that part!
Exam(s) will be organised during the second exam period, June at Thomas More If you cannot be present due to your study exchange, the exam will be scheduled during the third exam period. In this scenario you will lose the 1st exam attempt.

The student needs to succeed for all courses of the first year with an exception of maxiumum 6 credits per semester. Tolerated credits are accepted.

There will 2 information moments to the students:

  • End of June : students who succeed for all courses of the first phase= 60 credits, can start already with the preparation of the exchange, including booking the flight, accommodation, etc.
  • Mid-September, after third exam period : students who obtained at least 24 credits/semester(tolerance included), can also start with the practical part of the exchange after confirmation of the international coordinator and study counsellor.

One extra condition :

  • If the student leaves on study exchange, but still has to take courses during the second semester, phase 1, he/she needs to check the evaluation guidelines.

If the requirements above are not met, the student will not be eligible for a study exchange.
