Aims

  • The student critically and objectively discusses general scientific literature and literature related to evidence-based practice regarding a specific problem or topic within the field of speech therapy.
  • The student selects treatment techniques, tests or equipment that are evidence-based to examine subjects or conduct a study.
  • The student actively carries out each phase of research in the field of speech therapy.
  • The student structurally plans and conducts a scientific research with a limited scope within the speech therapy field.
  • The student writes a scientific article in an accurate, coherent, readable, concise and non-evaluative manner in the predefined sections abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion and implications, reference list and (optional) appendices.
  • The student works and follows research procedures accurately and collects and maintains data accurately.
  • The student objectively reports the results obtained and discusses their significance.
  • The student applies APA conventions in the text and in the reference list and structures the findings.
  • The student participates constructively in discussions.
  • The student identifies research obstacles in a timely manner and seeks solutions.
  • The student critically questions and adjusts his research work at regular intervals.
  • The student processes feedback constructively and evaluates it critically.
  • The student understands texts, related to his field of study, written in English (or other languages).
  • The student presents the main findings from Dutch- and English-language scientific texts within the speech therapy field of study.
  • The student approaches a problem from a broad perspective and describes cultural, religious, political, social, ... perspectives.
  • The student critically reviews the conduct of a study.
  • The student clarifies in what way the findings of a conducted research add value within speech therapy practice.
  • The student presents a conducted research for a mixed audience.
