Aims
The student can transform large volumes of data in a structured way, in Power Query Editor.
The student can create and correct relationships between data tables, using Power BI.
The student can perform basic calculations in Power BI, using DAX expressions relevant in business context (e.g., calculation of growth, margins, variations between actuals and budget, pervious period).
The student can create in Power BI a dashboard with the KPI's in function of the business objectives, in order to visualize data in a transparent, relevant, accurate and complete way.
The student can work in a team towards a common goal (e.g. building or presenting a dashboard), with a positive and constructive attitude.
Previous knowledge
The student should already be familiar with the knowledge and skills acquired in:
Digital Skills: Excel formulas (sum, if(s), vlookup, sumif(s), countif(s), index, iferror, concat, round, right, left, pivot tables and Excel layout
Business Intelligence Fundamentals: knowing what BI is, why data is linked to sources, why relationships between tables are made, which visualization to choose
Accounting: knowing what assets, liabilities, equity, P&L, cash flow statement are and what elements they (can) contain, understanding the movements between the P&L and the balance sheet.
Management information: being familiar with the concepts of EBITDA (what is included and excluded from it), budget, forecast, working capital, capex, opex, overhead, scenario’s (planning), …
Finance: ratios (solvability, liquidity, profitability), yield, margins, break-even, ROI, earn-back period.
Marketing: AIDA & customer journey (prospect, lead), segment - target - position, churn / attrition
Logistics / operations: lead time, cycle time, pipeline, productivity, inventory turnover
