Aims
At the end of this course the student is able to:
- look up the required information and summarize this information or the information given by the teacher properly;
- understand a longer text/video/audio material and follow a complex reasoning;
- explain the information/points of view/ideas of the writer/speaker orally and answer critical questions about this information using the necessary arguments;
- not make any mistakes which might lead to misunderstanding and show a fairly good command of the grammar. The student uses complete sentences when speaking and can correct his/her mistakes. He/she uses precise vocabulary related to the topic and can explain words and phrases of the studied material.
- express him/herself correctly when applying for a job: the student writes a cv and a letter of application and answers the typical questions of a job interview sufficiently.
- give a presentation in English and French using the necessary presentation skills;
- participate in a debate, take a stand and express him/herself properly;

Format: more information
In class certain pieces of information from authentic sources are being read, listened to, watched and then explained/clarified. By making a variety of oral and written exercises, often in small groups, this information is processed. The students do some research, process information critically and correctly, participate in group discussions, give a presentation, write a formal letter/text.
