Aims
Learning results of the Journalism programme:
Learning Result 2: Have a wide general knowledge in order to be able to place news events in a wide social and historical context, to interpret them and to assess their news value correctly.
Learning Result 4: Consult and analyse reliable and diverse sources of traditional news providers as well as alternative (new) information channels, niche media and foreign sources (certainly in French and English) and master the necessary interview techniques in order to do so.
Learning Result 10: Be familiar with diverse journalistic work environments, media company, media market, media law and media landscape and be able to integrate this knowledge in the journalistic activities and career.
Learning Result 12: Reflect critically on the role and influence of journalism in society and on the developments within the journalistic profession.

Previous knowledge
Basic knowledge about journalism and/or commucation is recommended. Fluency in speaking English is important.

Content
Students reflect on new trends in journalism and/or communication. They get an overview of trends in both fields (sometimes by a guestspeaker) and learn the basic skills on how to write a (semi)academic short paper (do's and don'ts).
Students make a semi-academic paper on new trends in media or communication and present the paper orally in front of their fellow students.
